Save Veronica Mars: 3 Reasons You Should

I have been on a Blog-cation for a while since we moved states and I had baby #3, and to be honest I'd been debating about whether or not I wanted to come back to it. Today, however, I saw a cause that spurred me into action!

 Veronica Mars

 Now if you're asking yourself,
"Self, who is this Veronica Mars?"
Then you need to go HERE and check out my post about the show.

So now that we're all up to date, let me tell you that it was a very tragic day when they didn't renew Veronica Mars for a 4th season, ESPECIALLY since they left the fans with quite a cliff hanger. Since then everyone from the fans to the director Rob Thomas, to the actors themselves has been trying to get a Veronica Mars movie made. All attempts were unsuccessful, mostly because Warner Bros. didn't believe there was enough interest in the show to spend the money and time on a full scale movie.

Well last week Rob Thomas decided to try something new and give it one more shot. There is a website named Kickstarter that is dedicated to people/businesses who are trying to raise money for things. They can make a Kickstarter page and people can log on and donate to their cause. Rob Thomas got together with the cast and Warner Bros. and worked out a plan to make this movie. The cast will be exeptionally generous where there wages and schedule are concerned and Warner Bros. agreed to cooporate if enough people join together. Now all they needed was funding.

Rob and crew decided that they needed a minimum of $2 Million dollars to do this, so last week they opened their own Kickstarter site and asked the fans who had been begging for this movie to help out. They gave themselves 30 days to accomplish this goal, and offered different prizes to the people who donated to the cause. Ranging from behind the scenes updates to an actual speaking role in the movie! You can donate as little as $1.

I believe that this was the biggest goal to be tackled in this manner, and I am proud to say that the Veronica Mars fans only needed 11 hours to raise the $2 million! Now they are not stopping there, they are accepting donations for the full 30 days, because the more money donated, the better the movie will be. Currently they are up to almost 3.6 million dollars. HERE is a link to an article on the Kickstarter Blog about what an amazing accomplishment it was.

So if you're wondering to yourself, that's great, but why should I care enough to donate? I have a few reason for you.

#1
Be apart of something amazing!
How many people can say that they have helped get a movie they were hoping would be made get off the ground? It really is incredibly amazing that regular people like us can take part in this.

#2
Closure
If you've ever had a show you loved get canceled before it's time you know how heart breaking it is to be left hanging. Forever wondering what happened to characters who have been like family and friends to you. Now is your chance to find that closure you have been searching for.

#3
Veronica Mars Rocks!
This show is just awesome, and that is reason enough for me!

So if you'd like to donate to the cause go to the Veronica Mars Kickstarter Site and be apart of something wonderful!

Which SuperHero Would You Want As Your Super Boyfriend?

I'm not sure I could choose! I love them all :)
Green Lantern - Kind of a screw up, but one that always comes through in the end. He's powerful and capable of doing anything he can imagine!
Played by Ryan Reynolds - And you can't really go wrong with Ryan Reynolds. He is one of my favorites :) Funny, sexy, and HOT! If you want to know more about him and why I like him click here.
Thor, God of Thunder - Although he starts as the over-privileged and over-confident son of Oden, but his time on Earth teaches him compassion, humility, and the true meaning of honor. (Just a sidenote, but I was pleasantly surprised with how much I really loved the movie Thor, it's really good! You can watch it on Netflix Instant)
Played by Chris Hemsworth - And Chris is no slouch himself. Heavily armed with muscles, looks, and just plain sexiness.

Batman - Somewhat dark and brooding, not to mention that he comes with definite baggage, however he's found a way to channel his issues into making the lives of the people around him better. Not to mention he's also a rich playboy!

Played by Christian Bale - Oh, I cannot tell you how much I love Christian Bale. He has been a favorite of mine since I saw him in Newsies when I was little, but I like him more and more as time goes on. He was incredibly awesome to go and visit the victims of the Aurora shooting! If you want to see more on Christian click here.

Spiderman - Poor Spiderman, nothing ever seems to go his way. Even his hardest efforts to protect the people of NYC get twisted and turned and somehow he gets portrayed as the bad guy! Even so, he's funny, witty, incredibly smart, and fiercely loyal.

Played by Andrew Garfield - This is the one movie I haven't seen yet, so I can't give you an accurate opinion on Andrew. I plan to rectify that soon! I will say the he looks promising :)

Iron Man - I will admit that I new very little about Iron Man until his movie came out, but as soon as I saw it I was hooked. He's a rich playboy who always gets his way and just happens to be incredibly talented, which only adds to his feeling he needs to get his way all the time. Either way, he makes me laugh.
Played by Robert Downey Jr. - I hadn't really kept track of Mr. Downey Jr. ever before, but I've gotta say that I love him in this role. I love his attitude :)
Hawkeye - Oh Hawkeye, you have always been a favorite of mine. I know he doesn't have any special powers or cool rings or robotic suits, but he's awesome! Like Batman he's got an edge of brooding about him, and he doesn't take well to stupid people. He's got deadly aim and he doesn't stop until he's hit his target.

Hart of Dixie Gives Me One More Reason To Watch - Justin Hartley

My favorite Archer from Smallville has made an appearance Hart of Dixie!

I was a little shocked, but extremely happy to see Justin Hartley playing Jesse across from Rachel Bilson. I had almost forgotten how dang cute he is! He shows up in Zoe's office needed some medical attention on his hand. Of course, he quickly asks her out!
While they have a good time around all of the drama they hit a wall when they discover.....

he is Wade's brother!
Now I am torn between my growing affection for Wade, and my endless attraction to Justin Hartley. Oh the choices I have to make!!!!!

Stephenie Meyer's The Host is Going to be a Movie

The Host is Meyer's adult novel, and it's not as well known but it's very good.
Here is a review I did on the book a while ago:

The Host

What's it about? The Host has 2 main Characters, but the twist is, they're both sharing the same body...did you get chills? The world has been taken over by the Souls. Alien beings who attach themselves inside of their hosts and take over their lives. Melanie who was one of a dwindling number of free humans left has finally been captured. Wanderer, a soul famous for the number of planets she's lived on is placed into her body. Wanderer expected Melanie to be gone when she woke up, but Melanie had other plans. Melanie tries desperately to hang on to protect her little brother Jamie and her boyfriend Jared while Wanderer fights to keep control. When Melanie's strong feelings for her loved ones start to overlap to Wanderer the game changes and things get interesting. Especially after Wanderer is being followed by a Seeker who's determined to prove that she's hiding something.

Why do I love it? 1-The love triangle get's a little more complicated when there's 4 people and only 3 bodies! 2-I love the idea of a world where money doesn't matter and all of our illnesses are curable. 3-Ian (who turns out to be Wanderer's love interest) is my awesome.

Extras? For more info on The Host click here.

It's no surprise in the wake of the Twilight Series taking to the screen that Stephenie Meyer is taking the leap with The Host as well. I'm intrigued to see how they adapt it to film. It's a really interesting story that could be really cool.

Here is the trailer for the upcoming movie:

I haven't heard of a lot of the actors they've cast but here's a rundown of them for you:

Saoirse Ronan as Melanie Stryder/Wanderer
(The Atonement, The Lovely Bones, Hanna)

Diane Kruger as The Seeker
(Troy, Wicker Park, National Treasure)

Jake Abel as Ian O'Shea
(I Am Number Four, The Lovely Bones, Percy Jackson & The Olympians, Supernatural)

Max Irons as Jared Howe
(Red Riding Hood, Dorian Gray)

Frances Fisher as Maggie Stryder
(Titanic, Unforgiven)

William Hurt as Jeb Stryder
(The Incredible Hulk, Into the Wild)

Chandler Canterbury as Jaime Stryder
(The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Fringe)

Boyd Holbrook as Kyle O'Shea
(Milk, The Reunion)

Harry Potter Parody Music Video: Firework becomes Firebolt

I'm not sure how why never seen this video before because it is AWESOME! I saw it in an article from Deseret News, and they said this video was: "Capitalizing on the arrival of the final Harry Potter movie, the Divine Comedy troupe at BYU has released "Firebolt," a Harry Potter-inspired music video parody of Katy Perry's "Firework." On YouTube, the video is giving the group national attention and tapping into nearly 100,000 hearts of Potter enthusiasts."

I am most definitely a Harry Potter enthusiast, and this video makes me want to jump up, grab my broom and dance! All I really know is that I have to go watch it again right now.

Glee + Matt Bomer = Amazing

Are you a Glee fan?

Are you a White Collar fan?

If you answered yes to either of these questions then you will love this video! Matt Bomer makes his Glee debut as Blaine's older brother, Cooper. I am SO excited for this episode, it looks awesome. There is something about Matt Bomer that makes me smile. I think it might be that huge smile he has. Anyways, here's a sneak peak at 'Big Brother'

My Hunger Games Movie Review

So now that I have run the gauntlet of Hunger Games fans to see the movie I'm here to tell you what I think about it!
And what I think is that it was wonderful. Watching the movie just reminded me how far above the rest Hunger Games is in terms of the quality of the story. It goes so far beyond your typical love story.

I really love how they brought District 12 to life. I had always known that it was a dark, sorrowful place, but I never really took the time to imagine it fully. It was a bit of a shock to see how much District 12 felt like a 3rd world country.

Even before I saw the movie I had a feeling that they picked a good Katniss. Jennifer Lawrence did a wonderful job of portraying the complicated, head strong, and yet completely oblivious (at least when it comes to boys) Katniss Everdeen.

Willow Shields makes a perfect Prim. It was heartbreaking to watch her screaming for Katniss when she took Prim's place in the reaping.

Liam Hemsworth was a very good choice for Gale. Not only is he HOT, he's perfect for the rugged, brooding Gale. I really loved getting to see him watch Katniss in the games. Ok, maybe I didn't LOVE seeing him hurt, but it was a great addition to the story.

It really helped set everything up for Catching Fire. In the book once Katniss leaves for the Capital after the reaping you almost forget about the districts, but the movie did a great job of showing us what was happening there. I got a better sense of the discord.

Josh Hutcherson plays Peeta. The only problem I have with Peeta is that he's a little on the short side, other than that I think he did a great job with the character. He's got a good feel on the nice, loyal boy-next-door angle. I was a little skeptical of him at the beginning, but as I watched him be Peeta he grew on me more and more. When Katniss came and found him after they made the change in the rules he seemed so earnest and hopeful about the possibility that Katniss might care for him. Sigh...
I'm excited to see the dynamic between Katniss and Peeta in the coming movies. (Although if I'm being honest, what I'm the MOST excited to see is Finnick!!!!!)

Elizabeth Banks plays the colorful (to put it lightly) Effie Trinket. I wasn't excited about her character before I saw the movie, but by the end of it I've gotta say she was one of my favorite parts! The things I found slightly annoying in the book were quite hilarious in the movie.
She was great comic relief for the rather intense movie.

Woody Harrelson plays Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch is exactly the kind of character that steals my heart. Grizzly, damaged, but with a good heart. Aside from the members of the tragicaly twisted love triangle I would say that Haymitch was my favorite character. Especially after you see him leave his booze (mostly) behind and take on the investors to save Katniss and Peeta.

The other tributes, particularly the Careers were very intimidating. Especially once they go into the arena and you see them brutally attacking each other.
Rue on the other hand is nothing but adorable. She was just about everything I pictured her to be. I cried once again when she died and Katniss sang to her.

Cinna was a character I was really looking forward to, and I think Lenny Kravitz was great. I also really loved the way they interpreted the clothes he made for Katniss and Peeta. Awesome.

Caesar Flickerman was played by Stanley Tucci and he was absolutely perfect.

Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley) was a very interesting character. His role in the book was very small, if you would even call it a role. In the movie you see a whole new dynamic to the hunger games, you see the man behind the curtain. In fact it was a little reminiscent of the Truman Show. I'm a little amazed that they pulled a character and story line out of he hat like this one. It was complex, intriguing, and full of surprises. Particularly his last scene, I thought that was brilliant.

Donald Sutherland made President Snow into the mean dictator that Collins depicted him as. I'm a little nervous to see what he's like in Catching Fire.

So if you haven't seen the movie please go do so, and if you have go see it again! And may the odds, be ever in your favor!

Spiderman Take Two: The Amazing Spider-Man

Spider-Man was the only super hero I ever really got into. I used to get up every Saturday morning to watch the cartoon with my dad. They are some of my favorite memories of my dad.
So when the first Spider-Man film came around I was so excited to see it!I thought the movie was funny and inventive and I thought Toby Maguire was a good choice for Peter Parker. However, even though I liked the movie, I did think it was a little over the top. The costumes and dialog were all very.....well, comic book-y. Maybe they thought it should be larger than life because Spider-Man was one of the first super-heros to make it to the big screen in several years. I think the heros who came after Spidey (Iron Man, Thor, Captain America...) were a little more....realistic, even while they are still incredibly, incredible.

So for whatever reasons they had, they are bringing Spider-Man back once more from the top!
This time Peter is played by Andrew Garfield (he played Eduardo Saverin on The Social Network). From what I've heard they will be focusing more on Peter's school days, and his history. Specifically that of his Parents. I've got to admit that one of the reasons I'm so excited for this movie is Gwen Stacy: Yup, Emma Stone is Gwen Stacy. I hope you love Emma Stone as much as I do, if not then please check out my post on Easy A. Awesome, awesome movie.

So here are the trailers that are out on the up and coming Amazing Spider-Man. Coming out this summer on July 3rd! Enjoy :)
