<div style="text-align: center;">
It has been a long time since I've found a recipe I liked this much that required so little effort! This dish is wonderful! And it's even open to a little tweaking, I didn't have lemon pepper or dijon mustard, but regular pepper and honey mustard worked great. Although I do think it'd be a little better with dijon mustard. I scored this recipe from the blog, <a href="http://www.plainchicken.com/" target="_blank">Plain Chicken</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><b> </b></u></div>
<u><b>Cheesy Honey Mustard Chicken </b></u><br />
<br />
Ingredients:<br />
<br />
4 boneless chicken breast<br />
3/4 cup honey<br />
1/2 cup Dijon mustard<br />
1 tsp lemon juice<br />
1/2 tsp paprika<br />
lemon pepper to taste<br />
4 Tbsp bacon, cooked and chopped (I used Oscar Meyer bacon bits in the yellow bag)<br />
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese<br />
<br />
Preheat oven to 375.<br />
<br />
Season chicken breasts with lemon pepper. Place in 9x13 baking dish. <br />
<br />
Combine honey, mustard, lemon juice and paprika. Pour over chicken. Bake for 20-25 minutes. <br />
<br />
Top each chicken breast with 1 Tablespoon of bacon and 1/4 cup
mozzarella cheese. Continue to bake until cheese is starting to brown
(about 10 minutes).<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
And for the side dish I decided to try these potatoes that I found on the blog, <a href="http://www.piarecipes.com/" target="_blank">Pia Recipes</a>: </div>

</ul>
Instructions:<br />
<ol>
<li>Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly coat an 11x7 inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.</li>
<li>Place potatoes in a single layer in prepared dish, and top with
onion. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, honey, mustard, salt and
pepper; drizzle over potatoes and onion.</li>
<li>Bake in the preheated 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) oven for 35

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I absolutely recommend that you make this dish! It was so easy to put together and so delicious! My husband Tad loved it as well. I had the leftovers in a wrap with brown rice the next day and it was just as good! Enjoy!</div>

I have been on a Blog-cation for a while since we moved states and I had baby #3, and to be honest I'd been debating about whether or not I wanted to come back to it. Today, however, I saw a cause that spurred me into action!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfnMjVrCrN3CqbQkEnHp2DHdjeGfpZEGcWSPgZEGKh_IbNpEhck3VyFhmCC0x3lrirrWXtwTwep0gd6SeadX_9pOD4jPJdlonEeTDKlZj4PMPmbDVyKsHyN8CZSDxAjMvR6ZTgVS-lqvw/s1600/Veronica_mars_intro.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfnMjVrCrN3CqbQkEnHp2DHdjeGfpZEGcWSPgZEGKh_IbNpEhck3VyFhmCC0x3lrirrWXtwTwep0gd6SeadX_9pOD4jPJdlonEeTDKlZj4PMPmbDVyKsHyN8CZSDxAjMvR6ZTgVS-lqvw/s320/Veronica_mars_intro.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Veronica Mars</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now if you're asking yourself, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
"Self, who is this Veronica Mars?" </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then you need to go <a href="http://neversawsuchawoman.blogspot.com/2011/05/my-new-addiction-veronica-mars.html" target="_blank">HERE</a> and check out my post about the show. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So now that we're all up to date, let me tell you that it was a very tragic day when they didn't renew Veronica Mars for a 4th season, ESPECIALLY since they left the fans with quite a cliff hanger. Since then everyone from the fans to the director Rob Thomas, to the actors themselves has been trying to get a Veronica Mars movie made. All attempts were unsuccessful, mostly because Warner Bros. didn't believe there was enough interest in the show to spend the money and time on a full scale movie. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well last week Rob Thomas decided to try something new and give it one more shot. There is a website named <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/" target="_blank">Kickstarter</a> that is dedicated to people/businesses who are trying to raise money for things. They can make a Kickstarter page and people can log on and donate to their cause. Rob Thomas got together with the cast and Warner Bros. and worked out a plan to make this movie. The cast will be exeptionally generous where there wages and schedule are concerned and Warner Bros. agreed to cooporate if enough people join together. Now all they needed was funding. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Rob and crew decided that they needed a minimum of $2 Million dollars to do this, so last week they opened their own Kickstarter site and asked the fans who had been begging for this movie to help out. They gave themselves 30 days to accomplish this goal, and offered different prizes to the people who donated to the cause. Ranging from behind the scenes updates to an actual speaking role in the movie! You can donate as little as $1.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I believe that this was the biggest goal to be tackled in this manner, and I am proud to say that the Veronica Mars fans only needed 11 hours to raise the $2 million! Now they are not stopping there, they are accepting donations for the full 30 days, because the more money donated, the better the movie will be. Currently they are up to almost 3.6 million dollars. <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/blog/a-big-day-for-fans" target="_blank">HERE</a> is a link to an article on the Kickstarter Blog about what an amazing accomplishment it was. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So if you're wondering to yourself, that's great, but why should I care enough to donate? I have a few reason for you.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
#1</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Be apart of something amazing!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
How many people can say that they have helped get a movie they were hoping would be made get off the ground? It really is incredibly amazing that regular people like us can take part in this.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
#2</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Closure </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you've ever had a show you loved get canceled before it's time you know how heart breaking it is to be left hanging. Forever wondering what happened to characters who have been like family and friends to you. Now is your chance to find that closure you have been searching for. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
#3</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Veronica Mars Rocks!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This show is just awesome, and that is reason enough for me!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So if you'd like to donate to the cause go to the <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/559914737/the-veronica-mars-movie-project" target="_blank">Veronica Mars Kickstarter Site</a> and be apart of something wonderful!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you'd like to check out Kickstarter go <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/" target="_blank">HERE</a>. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
They also have a Facebook page <a href="http://www.facebook.com/Kickstarter" target="_blank">HERE</a>.</div>

Put it in a cold oven, turn on the heat to 400 degrees. Twenty-five minutes later, the salmon will be absolutely perfect. Tender, moist, flaky. A no-fail method!<br />

<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: purple;">Even Tad agreed that this was the best salmon we've ever had! Even as a leftover it was terrific!</span></i></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
The Joker</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Batman's Menace </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Many amazing actors have played this role, but I'm partial to Heath Ledger. My little sister once told me that the thing that made the Joker such a good villain is that you never really figure out why he is the way he is. His madness has no reason to it, and because of that it's unpredictable. It definitely makes for an intriguing bad guy.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lex Luthor</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Superman's Foe</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lex has also been portrayed by many talented actors, and I've chosen Michael Rosenbaum from Smallville because I love the background this show gives on the villain. I loved seeing Lex before his dark side took over, and I loved the friendship that Lex and Clark cultivated over the first few seasons. There's something about your greatest enemy being someone who was once your greatest friend that's so tragic. They say you can never truly hate someone unless you've once loved them.</div>

Magneto</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
X-Men's Opponent </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Magneto, played by Ian McKellen is another type of bad guy. He spent his youth being persecuted because of his mutant ability by 'normal people'. Once he grew up he turned his fear into anger and became determined to see mutants take control. His strained friendship with Professor Xavier gives you a small hope that perhaps there is still a chance for him, but it doesn't seem likely. </div>

The Kingpin</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Daredevil & Spiderman's Villain</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Kingpin, played by Michael Clarke Duncan in Daredevil, is a bad guy who likes to have others do his dirty work for him. He's built a criminal empire along with a fortune that he uses with no mercy to control the people of New York City. To be honest I don't know much of his background, but it seems that power is what drives him. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5d5qTxWQHeQF_-SwcSnjYWJN00iEGhYvCbDqymNCxmSTlv2qTg1uXh-fNpVSrBcjvuTxWxhWupmACVNciNj3VlTB-e8k7-yl43ozxRptJJStkCxVW1AhakdjNFUHCRfnvzyUNWj-hiAs/s1600/Lordvoldemort.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5d5qTxWQHeQF_-SwcSnjYWJN00iEGhYvCbDqymNCxmSTlv2qTg1uXh-fNpVSrBcjvuTxWxhWupmACVNciNj3VlTB-e8k7-yl43ozxRptJJStkCxVW1AhakdjNFUHCRfnvzyUNWj-hiAs/s1600/Lordvoldemort.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Voldemort</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Harry Potter's Destined Enemy</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Voldemort reminds me of a reincarnated Hitler. He came from 'mudblood' origins that he despised, and he spent years molding himself into something else. Something that was anything but human. He wants to rid the world of 'muggles and mudbloods', or at the very least make them serve him. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, tell me, which Super Villain do you love to hate the most? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think I'd say Lex Luthor, but you tell me?</div>

Now I was somewhat preoccupied with my wedding that day so I failed to recognize the beginning of something new for my cousin Janell. :) She had recently taken some cake decorating classes and volunteered to make my wedding cake, so I gladly turned my cake over to Janell. The only directions I had to give her were my wedding color (pink) and the kind of cake topper I wanted (a bride and groom figurine). She took my poor excuses for cake plans and turned them into a beautiful wedding cake I was in love with! I'm proud to say that mine was her first official wedding cake!</span><br />

I've personally watched her make several of her cakes and each time I'm amazed at how incredibly creative and gifted she is. I've seen her do things with frosting that I didn't know were possible. She has even been recruited to make </span><a href="http://www.onesweetslice.com/index.php/view-image-gallery/list/6">specialty cakes</a> <span style="color: #cc33cc; font-style: italic;">for large events and parties (including a Twilight party). You'll also be glad to know that her cakes taste as good as they look! I stole her cupcake recipe after she brought a batch to my baby shower because they were so amazing. I get compliments every time I make them, although they can't compare to Janell's. Until now she's been running her business out of her home, but her success has grown so much that she is in the process of opening her own store in South Jordan, Utah!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #cc33cc; font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;"> Let me tell you a little bit more about her:</span><br />
<span style="color: #cc33cc; font-style: italic;">Janell is my beautiful and incredibly talented (so talented that your jaw drops to the floor after meeting her for 5 minutes) cousin. She has a very handsome husband, and 4 beautiful children (the youngest was just born a few weeks ago). I would put Janell in the category of the SuperMom! Her house looks like Martha Stewart herself decorated it, she runs a successful business, she's very active in the community and her church, and, let's face it, she's gorgeous! Not to mention that she's the nicest person you'll ever meet. So when I asked her to take time out of her crazy busy schedule to participate in this post she didn't hesitate to say yes.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">So here is some great advice and inspiration from my amazing cousin!</span><br />

</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: 100%;"><br />I was bored. I went from going to school and working fulltime to watching our first born sleep all day and needed something to keep me busy. I went into Roberts Arts and Crafts and saw a sign advertising cake decorating classes and decided to give it a try. The beginner class was held once a week for four weeks and I immediately loved it which led me to take 3 other decorating courses. After that I began making cakes for family and friends, my first wedding cake I made was for my lovely cousin Candice :). After that cake I received a lot of encouragement and </span><span style="font-size: 100%;">decided to participate in a Bridal Show at Southern Utah University which is were I booked my </span><span style="font-size: 100%;">first non-family wedding cakes.....and that's when the craziness began. I have</span><span style="font-size: 100%;"> made a lot of cakes since then and for about five years I keep the business really small. The demand has been overwhelming and my husband and I decided to open a storefront in South Jordan! We will sell cake for weddings, birthdays, special events and cupcakes. </span></div>
<span style="font-size: 100%;"><br /><span style="font-size: 130%; font-weight: bold;">What were the best classes or learning experiences you went to that you would recommend to others?</span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 100%;"><br />Wilton was the best way to start, just to learn the basics with working on cake, fondant and icing. These classes also helped me know that I had a natural talent for cake design and that I enjoyed it. One of the best classes was from Carrie Biggers in Salt Lake City, she is amazing and is k</span><span style="font-size: 100%;">nown nationally since she has competed on a few TV programs. There are also annual cake decorating conventions that offer a lot of classes. I would also recommend joining a local ICES group (International Cake Exploration Sociate) which is where you meet with other cake decorators to learn and network. The last thing to recommend is joining a cake forum to learn tips and ideas, the best I have found is Cake Central.<br /><br /><span style="font-size: 130%;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">If you're on a budget, what are the essential cake making/decorating tools to spend your money on?</span></span><br /><br />A handless bench scraper to smooth the icing, a good rolling pin, sharp pizza cutter, 2 good fondant smoothers, a variety of cutters, a turn table that locks, basic round tips and spatulas.<br /><span style="font-size: 100%;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYzEPArcKK8XmRC0creKiRYIzwLgIZ5CJMvpSoCxPAPIRKfrl_rTOaBXvWd7z1IaH4MUwZ1fblVRU2hSrPiSs56-XHvCH6ZKeueOFiJ-Vv50PdiZoGCadWyRgPnYMVbTKv-x_wJGFnCUU/s1600/janellcakes4.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5595160410319000914" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYzEPArcKK8XmRC0creKiRYIzwLgIZ5CJMvpSoCxPAPIRKfrl_rTOaBXvWd7z1IaH4MUwZ1fblVRU2hSrPiSs56-XHvCH6ZKeueOFiJ-Vv50PdiZoGCadWyRgPnYMVbTKv-x_wJGFnCUU/s400/janellcakes4.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 400px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 266px;" /></a></span><br /><span style="font-size: 130%;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">What's your favorite cake you've done?</span></span><br /><br />Honestly, every new cake becomes my favorite. They are individually designed which always brings new challenges and satisfactions. If I had to pick a cake to spotlight, I would pick three :). One is a topsy turvy cake that had a lot of bows and gum paste flowers. The second is a cake that was make for the Osmond wedding, I incorporated a crown into the design and was able to use new skills and the event was just amazing. The third would be a cake I made that was very traditional white on white cake, it turned out very cute and it was fun to make.<br /><br /><span style="font-size: 130%;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">What's your worst nightmare experience with a cake you've done?</span></span><br /><br />Ha....do I really answer this or should I just try to sound perfect! I would say it happened when I went to deliver a cake to a reception that was located at a house. When I knocked on the door a lady answered and told me the venue changed! and it was 25 minutes away. Of course I was in a rush and I had 5 other cakes to deliver. This event caused a chain reaction of other minor events and it was extremely stressful. Oh and on the same day, a bride picked up her cake and when she was driving to her reception, the cake tipped over! So on top of being late and stressed, I had to go fix a cake to make it look beautiful. In the end, everything ended just fine and all the brides were happy.<span style="font-size: 100%;"><span style="font-size: 100%;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiPslTAhJ-Ro1IrXnHZcPR7gkgAAjts9u8H_KGQ-hUkehWpO0oU80HxBqtiHsee5s41Yw-229HZjrPHjWkwkyF1bTzgJK3r2zHUMSvhwaKVRqmJQBtSIaYwjPcMIH5DhBvUn7k7hiM4hE/s1600/janellcake.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5595160391843628914" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiPslTAhJ-Ro1IrXnHZcPR7gkgAAjts9u8H_KGQ-hUkehWpO0oU80HxBqtiHsee5s41Yw-229HZjrPHjWkwkyF1bTzgJK3r2zHUMSvhwaKVRqmJQBtSIaYwjPcMIH5DhBvUn7k7hiM4hE/s400/janellcake.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 400px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 266px;" /></a></span></span></span><br />

<i>For some reason I never took a Home-Ec (or Family and Consumer Science as it's called now) course when I was in school. I don't remember it ever being an option while I was in Texas, and by the time I moved to Utah all of my classmates had already taken it. </i></div>
<div style="color: purple;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: purple;">
<i>Now I know that some people have no desire for a course like this, and to be honest when I was in high school I probably wouldn't have wanted to take it either. Some people might see it as old fashioned or unnecessary, however, now that I've got my own home to run and take care of I really wish I'd learned a few more skills. Now that I'm a young mother I find myself without the knowledge and skills that I could have wished. </i></div>

<i>For months now I have been craving Panda Express, but have been either too poor or too lazy to go get it, but when I saw this on Pinterest I pinned it vowing to make it. Last week I did, and it was SO GOOD!!!!!! I ate myself sick because I just couldn't stop. I will tell you that I cooked for 2 1/2 hours, but maybe that was because it was my first time using these recipes. Even so it wasn't difficult cooking, there's just a process you have to go through. <i>This
series has got to be my favorite of all time. I know it's lengthy and
complex, but it is so worth it! I've read and re-read all 14 books over
and over anxiously awaiting that final book that will be coming out in
January of 2013. My excitement has mounted and boiled over to the point
that I've decided to do a post on every book! Don't worry, I wont do
them all at once! But if you love to read, and you've never read these I
intend to convince you to pick them up. </i></div>

<i>Book
1, The Eye of the World revolves around 3 village youths, Rand
(middle), Mat (left) and Perrin (right). The world Robert Jordan created
has a very 'Lord of the Rings' feel to it, but it's a unique world of
it's own. While the 'age' that Rand, Mat, and Perrin live in speaks of
'the age of legends' that had wondrous things that sound suspiciously
like light bulbs and automobiles. </i></div>
<div style="color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i><br />
</i></div>
<div style="color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>In
the Age of Legends there was a war between people who walk in the light
and the Aes Sedai (men and women who could weild something called the
one power, which is kind of akin to magic) and the followers of the Dark
One and their dark Aes Sedai who are called the Forsaken. During the
Aes Sedai's attempt to defeat the Dark One they managed to force him
into a prison, but only at a very terrible cost. The Dark One managed to
taint the male half of the one power and turn all of the male Aes Sedai
mad. These men quickly went crazy and broke the world wielding the one
power. </i></div>
<div style="color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i><br />
</i></div>
<div style="color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>The
most famous male Aes Sedai of that time was called Lews Therin, and
people called him The Dragon. When the madness hit him he killed every
person who had a drop of his blood in their veins including his wife and
children, and when he'd realized what he'd done he killed himself. As
the world tried to survive and piece itself together a prophecy was
revealed that The Dragon would be reborn in the world's greatest time of
need and would be the cause of much destruction and chaos as well as
being the people's last hope of surviving another breaking. The people
of Rand, Mat, and Perrin's age live in fear of that time coming to pass.</i></div>

</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
<img height="333" id="il_fi" src="http://ladywithabirthmark.files.wordpress.com/2012/07/mothershomemakersstressreduction.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="311" /> </div>
<br />
<br />
Ok ladies, there's a question I wish to pose to you. WHY or WHY AREN'T you a homemaker? I want to know why you've made the choice that you've had, or perhaps you'd LIKE to be a homemaker but are needed to work. Either way I want to know your reasons for what you do and why you do it.<br />
<br />
In case you're wondering why I do it, here it is:<br />
<br />
To be honest I never wanted a 'career', at least in the typical meaning of the word. I always knew I wanted to be home with my family. Some of it is because I wanted to be in charge of my own schedule, I've never really liked being told what to do. I know some of you moms out there are shaking your heads because, yes, our children are bossy and often try to tell me what to do. But I've got that Mom Card I can play.<br />
<br />
Another reasons is that I wanted to be sure that I was the person who had the most influence and contact with my kids (at least for now while they are still at home). If someone is going to teach them bad habits then that person is going to be me!<br />
<br />
One final reason I'll give you is just that the idea of being that mom that has fresh baked cookies waiting for the kids when they get home from school always made me smile. I know I'm no June Cleaver, but I love sitting with my kids over a batch of cookies we've just made and some glasses of milk talking about our day. Even if my 3 year old's answer to "What was your favorite part of the day?" is always, "Playing with daddy!"<br />
<br />
There are a lot of reasons I do what I do, some selfish, some idealistic, but now I'd like to hear from YOU. I know there are so many different ways to be the Matriarch of a family, and I sincerely want to know how you do it and why. <br />
<br />

For my jewelry I found this little number for $8. I'm still piecing together the rest of my setup, but for my necklaces, bracelets, and watches I thought this would be perfect. </div>

<span style="font-size: small;"><i style="color: purple;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">So today I tried out this recipe for Mom's Chocolate Decadent Cake and it turned out really well! I found it on </span><a href="http://www.justapinch.com/" style="font-weight: normal;" target="_blank">JustAPinch Recipe Club </a><span style="font-weight: normal;">and I'm glad I did. My one complaint is that, while the recipe tells you to cook the cake in a 9x13 pan, mine came out uncooked in the center. So be sure to make adjustments if you're planning on trying this cake out. Which would be a smart idea! Here's the recipe:</span></i></span></h2>

<i>One of my most intimidating goals for this new move is to cut back on my grocery bill as much as I can without feeding our family solely on ramen noodles. I searched around the web for some tips that I found realistic and useful, and this is a list I liked from <a href="http://www.webmd.com/" target="_blank">WebMD</a>. </i></div>
<div style="color: purple; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.landolakes.com/assets/images/uploads/blog/2011/08/produce/produce.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="218" id="il_fi" src="http://www.landolakes.com/assets/images/uploads/blog/2011/08/produce/produce.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
1. <b>Buy produce in season</b>. Check the food section in your
newspaper to find the best buys for the week, based on fresh produce in
season. Food in season is usually priced to sell. During the summer
months, corn on the cob can cost as little as 10 cents an ear; at other
times of the year, it may cost 10 times as much. Also, shop your local
farmers' market for great deals on local produce; the prices won't
include shipping costs.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="color: purple;">If you're curious as to which season goes with which produce here's a list to help: </span></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.princeton.edu/greening/images/produce%20availability.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="281" id="il_fi" src="http://www.princeton.edu/greening/images/produce%20availability.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<img height="245" id="il_fi" src="http://www.examiner.com/images/blog/replicate/EXID51603/images/coupons.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="370" /><br />
2. <b>Use sales and coupons.</b> Planning meals around what's on
sale can lower your grocery bills, especially if you also use coupons
(make sure they're for item you would buy anyway). Sunday newspapers are
full of coupons and sales circulars to get you started. It's also a
good idea to stock up on staples when they're on sale. "Buy one, get one
free" is basically a technique to get you to buy twice as much as you
need at half the price. At some markets, though, the product rings up
half-price -- so you don't have to buy more than one to get the savings.
Use your freezer to store sale items that can be used at a later date.<br />
<br />
<div style="color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>To be honest coupons have always intimidated me, but there are loads of websites out there to help the coupon-illiterate such as myself. Like CouponMom.com But only use coupons on items you were going to buy anyways! You can spend a lot of money buying things you never needed to have just because it was a 'good deal'. A good deal, is only a good deal if it saves you money!</i></div>
<br />
<img height="200" id="il_fi" src="http://bestlunchideas.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/BrownBagLunchIdeas.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="320" /><br />
3. <b>Brown-bag it.</b> Making lunch and taking it with you is a
great money-saver and an excellent use of leftovers for meals at work,
school, or wherever your destination. "Packing your lunch not only saves
you money, but you can control all the ingredients so they are healthy
and low in calories," says Diekman, who is nutrition director at
Washington University. Pack a simple sandwich, salad, soup, wrap, and/or
a hearty snack of cheese. Use freezer packs and containers to keep food
at the proper temperature unless you have access to a refrigerator.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="color: purple;">This is something that I really believe in. I think most people have NO IDEA how much money they spend eating out. But just think about it, even if you only spend $5 a day on eating lunch out that's $25 a week and $100 a month just for YOU. If your spouse is doing the same it's double that! And let's be honest, it's never just $5. If people would just pack leftovers or something simple like a sandwich they would save SO MUCH MONEY. Plus it's so much healthier. </span></i></div>
<br />
<br />
<img height="255" id="il_fi" src="http://stepcoupons.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/canned-food-for-emergency-situation.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="320" /><br />
4. <b>Think frozen, canned, or dried.</b> Next time you're
gathering ingredients for a recipe, try using frozen, canned, or dried
foods. They may be less expensive than fresh, yet are equally
nutritious. Produce is typically frozen, canned, or dried at the peak of
ripeness, when nutrients are plentiful. Fish and poultry are often
flash-frozen to minimize freezer damage and retain freshness. With
frozen foods, you can use only the amount you need, reseal the package,
and return it to the freezer. If it's properly stored, there's no waste.
Canned foods are often sitting in a bath of juice, syrup, or salty
water, and usually require rinsing. Dried fruits are concentrated in
flavor and a great substitute for fresh fruit. Also consider using
powdered or evaporated versions of milk in soups, casseroles, mashed
potatoes, or desserts. Buy the form that gives you the best price for
your needs.<br />
<br />
<div style="color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>This can save you money for sure, but make sure you check labels!</i></div>
<br />
<img height="240" id="il_fi" src="http://static.ddmcdn.com/gif/textured-vegetable-protein-1.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="360" /><br />
5. <b>Save on protein foods</b>. When possible, substitute
inexpensive, vegetarian sources such as beans, eggs, tofu, and legumes
for more expensive meat, fish, or poultry. Eat vegetarian once a week or
more to increase your consumption of healthy plant foods while saving
money. Eggs are an excellent, inexpensive source of protein that can be
eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner. You could also try using a
smaller portion of meat, fish, or poultry and extending the dish with
whole grains, beans, eggs, and/or vegetables.<br />
When you do buy meat, choose smaller portions of lean cuts. For
example, lean cuts of beef are those that include the terms "loin" or
"round." (You can tenderize lean cuts of meat mechanically or by
marinating it.) You can also buy a whole chicken and cut it up instead
of paying the butcher to do it for you, or buy the cheaper "family pack"
and portion it into airtight freezer bags.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i style="color: purple;">Money saver, and healthier! </i></div>

6. <b>Waste not, want not.</b> Before you toss perishable food
into your grocery cart, think about exactly how you'll use it. The
Environmental Protection Agency estimates that Americans generate
roughly 30 million tons of food waste each year. Using leftover
vegetables, poultry, or meat in soups, stews, salads, and casseroles
minimizes cost and demonstrates your creativity in the kitchen. For
example, have a roasted chicken for dinner one night, and use the
leftovers for dinner the next night. Try topping a bed of fresh greens
with vegetables, fruits, and slices of leftover chicken. Add a loaf of
whole-grain bread, and presto! You've got a nutritious meal in minutes.
You can also eat leftovers for breakfast or take them with you for
lunch.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="color: purple;">I can't tell you how many tomatoes and strawberries I've wasted because I didn't use them in time. I always think I'm going to save them for something special because they're more expensive, but usually that just means they go bad.</span></i></div>
<br />
<br />
<img height="240" id="il_fi" src="http://www.weusecoupons.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Generic-versus-Store-Brand.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="320" /><br />
7. <b>Go generic.</b> Consider buying store brands instead of
pricier national brands. "All food manufacturers follow standards to
provide safe food and beverage products of high quality," says Earl.
Many grocery companies buy national-brand products made to their
specifications and simply put their own label on the products. Read the
ingredient list on the label to be sure you're getting the most for your
money. Ingredients are listed in order by weight. So when you're buying
canned tomatoes, look for a product that lists tomatoes, not water, as
the first ingredient. Also look for simpler versions of your favorite
foods. For example, buy oatmeal or simple flaked or puffed cereals that
contain fewer additives and are less expensive (and often healthier)
than fancier cereals.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="color: purple;">For most things going generic does not mean losing taste or quality. Most of the time you're paying for packaging or characters. There are only a few items that I wont buy generic like mac n'cheese for the kids! </span></i></div>
<br />
<img height="213" id="il_fi" src="http://www.chocolatesuze.com/images/3543.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="320" /><br />
8. <b>Buy prepackaged only if you need it.</b> Unless you have a
coupon or the item is on sale, buying prepackaged, sliced, or washed
products comes with a higher price tag. Still, people living alone may
find that smaller sizes of perishable products or bags of prepared
produce eliminate waste and fit their needs best, despite the extra
cost. You can also save money (and boost nutrition) by passing up the
aisles with processed foods, cookies, snack foods and soda.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i style="color: purple;">I'll admit that I love having some 'emergency meals' on hand for those nights that I'm just feeling lazy. My crowd pleaser in a pinch is Stoffers Chicken Alfredo Pasta, even my kids will eat it with a smile! But other than that I try not to get to many things where I'm paying for preparation rather than the food.</i></div>
<br />
<img height="226" id="il_fi" src="http://thequickanddirtydirty.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/costco-warehouse.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="320" /><br />
9. <b>Buy and cook in bulk.</b> Joining a bulk shopping <span style="background-color: white;">club, like Sam's, Costco, or BJ's, can be cost-effec</span>tive
if you frequent the club regularly. Bulk purchases can be a great way
to save money -- as long as they get used. You might also look in your
community for shopping cooperatives that sell food in bulk at a
substantial savings. Cooking in bulk can save both money and time, says
Tallmadge. "Prepare food in bulk and freeze into family-sized portions,
which saves time in the kitchen," she suggests. For example, making a
big batch of tomato sauce will less expensive (and probably tastier)
than buying some.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i style="color: purple;">I love my Costco Membership, and if you do their 'executive membership' you can actually get a check in the mail once a year for extra savings! Although you do need to be careful about the items you're buying in bulk, because just because they give you more doesn't mean you're saving more. Especially if most of it goes bad. </i></div>
<br />
<br />
<img height="212" id="il_fi" src="http://www.mnn.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/node-gallery-display/photos/backyard-garden.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="320" /><br />
10. <b>Plant a garden.</b> For benefits that go beyond cost
savings, plant your own produce. There's nothing better than a
summer-fresh tomato from the garden. Tomatoes even grow well in
containers if you don't have space for a garden, and some neighborhoods
offer community gardening spaces. Start small, and see how easy it is to
grow fresh herbs or a few simple vegetables. And if you invest a little
time in freezing or canning your harvest, you can enjoy summer's bounty
all year long.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="color: purple;">Just thinking about growing a garden is one of those things that makes me feel like I'm covered in dirt and bugs and pulling weeds for hours! Being in Las Vegas, and in a rental makes it a little difficult to do the plant a garden thing anyways, but you can always do those topsy-turvy planters that grow tomatoes and strawberries! Less scary, and more manageable! </span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>And, of course, MEAL PLANNING can save you time and money, and did I mention money? DO IT!!</i></div>
<div style="color: purple; text-align: center;">

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>I love a story that has a strong female lead, here are a few of my favorites:</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>Katniss Everdeen </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>Who doesn't love Katniss? She single-handedly saved her family from dying of starvation by becoming the head of the house at the age of 11. She's not concerned with the silly things most girls waste their time on like boys and hair, and she's a great person to have around when your life is on the line. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie82hRW1031uYwzTymoWltyceGbelukktxMT8NzLpKsq4TKmddRnOKaKMepJK_d1-LCxrnzB4wB51H1yqlw0TTM7KprAQliRY-hGVFWDfs5PI16lF-H3ayMMMZYdSpRAwEZrjhQdFf1Xs/s320/Katniss-from-The-Hunger-Games.jpeg" width="273" /></i></div>
<div style="color: purple;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: purple;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>Veronica Mars </i></div>
<div style="color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>Oh Veronica, I really do love you. She used to be everyone's favorite Prom Princess, until her best friend is murdered, her boyfriend dumps her for no apparent reason, and her father becomes the most hated man in Neptune, California. Then she goes from being sweet, naive, and innocent to sassy, hard-core, and just plain vengeful. Even though she is simultaneously feared and hated by most of her classmates, she is still the go to person for getting out of a jam. </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdTuhGBdH5XWRRgfYGbtrk5GhWZoChehi7TkIgbYuS73KGtrKcymguBSYgaCDx6u98TfhtPhykiU-Dn2pQ2fmDCsaR_QyhmOrrAMw2PGnChsQcW1KzpEE2o2CAEc7sqa1ncPlQYrXRzek/s1600/veronicam3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdTuhGBdH5XWRRgfYGbtrk5GhWZoChehi7TkIgbYuS73KGtrKcymguBSYgaCDx6u98TfhtPhykiU-Dn2pQ2fmDCsaR_QyhmOrrAMw2PGnChsQcW1KzpEE2o2CAEc7sqa1ncPlQYrXRzek/s320/veronicam3.jpg" width="237" /></a></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>Egwene Al'Vere </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>So I realize that most people will not know who this is, but believe me, you should. Egwene is from the Wheel of TIme series by Robert Jordan, and she is pure awesome. She begins the series as your typical small town girl with big dreams, and has now transformed into the powerful, talented, and bad a$$ leader of the Aes Sedai (yeah, you wont know what that means until you read the book). She does not tolerate childishness, whining, or idiots, but she will take the time to help you be your best.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIVIo9CPXASCc1vySDaMAklhwiHiPqgVry7raRcKK4JLFkkvCCmhM9D4hoUj_NBo2JKMWm0TSj51VjAq3hiPqW9GaM3Lk7wXIX3vh37T-oKH2PWHOia-DatdZ2aZ2xUX48PzlGKJJRxUw/s320/Egwene.jpg" width="256" /></i></div>
<div style="color: purple;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: purple;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>Buffy Summers </i></div>
<div style="color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>Oh Buffy, even though I have always been slightly embarrassed to love this show, the fact is that I do. Buffy is more than the beautiful, stake-weilding, vampire slaying chic that you might think if you've never seen the show. The legend of the Slayer and the vampire lore that the show is based on is surprisingly well thought out and intriguing. Buffy's character is well developed (hardy har har, yes she's pretty, but that's not what I meant) and you really feel invested in what happens to her. No matter how much she might want that normal life with the perfect prom night, she never hesitates to sacrifice it all to save the world.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHw_NIlXb3S5vHOFuVvXkV-whs0_h_vox-gOwEzjJ4PD4TNW9vydbliIhM3xh8WuZ8Obh8sBmhLJw14UNUCjRA3T4Nw90dXbTvVdQUtTY9V1HKlvyaQckyT84J3dyWH3yLHx6D9G5Xwjc/s1600/buffy-summers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHw_NIlXb3S5vHOFuVvXkV-whs0_h_vox-gOwEzjJ4PD4TNW9vydbliIhM3xh8WuZ8Obh8sBmhLJw14UNUCjRA3T4Nw90dXbTvVdQUtTY9V1HKlvyaQckyT84J3dyWH3yLHx6D9G5Xwjc/s1600/buffy-summers.jpg" /></a></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>Lois Lane</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>While I grew up watch The Adventures of Lois and Clark, and even though I did love Terry Hatcher as Lois Lane, I am still partial to Smallville's portrayal of her. She's fast talking, ambitious, and loves to stick her nose in other people's business. I love the development of her relationship with Clark, especially the beginning when they can't seem to stand each other! She can kick your butt with her awesome karate moves and then write up a story to tell all of Metropolis how lame you are! </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: purple; text-align: center;">

<div style="color: purple;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: purple;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>Sabrina Spellman </i></div>
<div style="color: purple; text-align: center;">
<i>Who doesn't miss the days of TGIF? I know I do, there was nothing better than a whole night full of Boy Meets World, Family Matters, Step By Step, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Sabrina is anything but popular (at least in high school), and her life is far from perfect but she's got a good heart and tries to do what's right. She learns a lot of lessons the hard way, but in the end everything seems to work out like 'magic'! </i></div>

<br />
<br />
<br />
<i><span style="color: purple;">I'm not sure who is responsible for this list, but I think most women would agree that it's fairly accurate. I've used all 9, and my husband has learned the meaning of most of them. </span></i><br />
<br />
1. Fine : This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
<br />
<br />
2. Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an
hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given
five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
<br />
<br />
3. Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means
something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with
nothing usually end in fine.
<br />
<br />
4. Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
<br />
<br />
5. Loud Sigh : This is not actually a word, but is a non-verbal
statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you
are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and
arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of
nothing.)
<br />
<br />
6.. That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a
woman can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and
hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
<br />
<br />
7. Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome.
<br />
<br />
8. Whatever : Is a women's way of saying SCREW YOU!
<br />
<br />
9. Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement,
meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several
times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man
asking "What's wrong?" For the woman's response refer to #3.
<br />
<br />
*To the men you know, to warn them about arguments they can avoid if they remember the terminology.
<br />
<br />
*To all the women you know to give them a good laugh, cause they know it's true.Candicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15753744724897403067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4031793334686964268.post-68331133273266792062012-05-29T21:29:00.001-07:002012-05-29T21:29:55.956-07:00Things That Make Me Smile When I'm Down<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<i>If you're anything like me you are being hit with a wave of depression because most of your favorite shows are on hiatus for the next few months!
